Video as a force for social change was to the fore among this year's Asia Digital Media Awards.

Some 26 of this year's 116 entries - all of which come from the Asia-Pacific region this year, as India and the Middle East get their own events - were for the use of online video. And delegates to today's Digital Media Asia conference in Singapore had a chance to see some of the best-in-class work (links to which are below).

In the end, the winner was a video story by Apple Daily on the Chinese children who get left behind when their parents go into cities for work, with Media Corp/Channel News showing its expertise with silver and bronze awards.

Singapore Press Holdings was again a major winner - although not quite matching last year's ten-medal tally - with Astro Awani, MediaCorp and the Philippine Daily Inquirer among top award winners.

All winners now go forward to WAN-Ifra´s World Digital Awards competition, in which Asian news media have frequently been well placed.
