Integrated digital and offset print systems are taking over at Bertelsman's GGP Media at a print site in Germany's Poseneck.

German maker of web presses and inline digital print finishing systems manroland web systems says it has convinced the Bertelsman Printing Group subsidiary, leading to an order for both finishing and workflow systems.

Software for complete pressroom networking is part of a solution which will replace letterpress production.

The order follows a DRUPA 2016 demonstration.

Production/technology manager Martin Hawich says that beyond the "more productive and faster" 305 metres/min production system, workflow solutionswould enable them to network the complete press room, integrating digital and offset printing. "The integration of the complete plant offers our customers immense advantages," he says.

"The trend is clearly moving away from standalone solutions in digital printing, as they are still being offered."

manroland's software solutions include WorkflowBridge, Imposer and the MasterQ production planner as plug-ins, intelligently connected to optimise the complete process resulting, the company's Alwin Stadler says, in "a coherent and consistent system for the conventional and digital printing sector."
