First donations come in to save the Kiwi Cossars

Contributions have begun to come in to a fund to restore the Kiwi Cossars, with a Pahiatua pensioner first to make a donation.

"They just called in and donated $300 cash for the Cossar Restoration," says acting chairman Steve Carle.

A bank account in the name of the Cossar Restoration has been opened and Carle says he has had an email from someone wanting to pay into it.

He says the bank account number is:

BNZ 02-0724-0047576-02

"I will send out receipts to anyone who donates and keep contact details so we can let them know about progress and advise them of any Open Days we might have in the future," he says.

More details from Steve Carle, email Steve.Carle@bushtele.co.nz

Two Cossar web-fed letterpress newspaper presses - believed to be among the last four remaining in the world - are at risk unless a permanent home for them can be secured. One dates to 1926.
