Entry deadline for NewsMediaWorks' 2018 News Media Awards has been extended for the second time in less than a month.

Organisers say they have received an "overwhelming number" of requests for more time, leading to the closing date being extended to May 23.

The newly-branded awards take the place of the PASNPA Newspaper of the Year awards.

Rules are unchanged, with all entries needing to have been published between April 28, 2017 and April 27, 2018 inclusive. With the exception of the Hegarty Scholarship, entrants are not permitted to re-enter material that was submitted in the previous year. Categories and criteria booklet can be downloaded here.

The original deadline was earlier extended to May 9.

Awards will be presented at a dinner on September 14 at Sydney's Hilton hotel, with entries costing between $80-175 each.
