Goss unit Contiweb is rebranding to position itself for a future in new markets including digital printing, and embracing Goss's Thallo buy.

Now a standalone brand within Goss International following its acquisition by American Industrial Partners (AIP), Contiweb is planning a new brand identity, logo and website to reflects its evolution as a provider of web-offset, inkjet web, label and packaging finishing products.

A DRUPA showing last year showcased the collaboration with HP on modular unwinder/splicers and rewinders, designed with an easy path to full automation at either end of the press line.

Managing director Bert Schoonderbeek says the rebranding represents the successful and ongoing transition to a company beyond heatset web-offset: "Contiweb has always been guided by our customers' needs and suggestions, so we are excited to move forward with new products spanning diverse printing applications which will help them to meet the demands of the printing industry today. With increasing pressure on lead times and profits, Contiweb offers solutions to improve efficiency and sustainability in all print sectors".

Contiweb, although well known as a supplier of splicers and dryers to the world's premier web offset printers for some 40 years, started to diversify its product offering in 2014, developing ancillaries for digital inkjet web production. Since then it has engaged in label and packaging markets, forming a strategic partnership with DG press Services and acquiring the IP of the Thallo web-offset packaging press early last year. The Contiweb Thallo system integrates web offset with flexo, gravure or digital units into hybrid configurations, providing flexibility for a wide range of printing applications.
