Goss's acquisition of US-based Graphic Automation Controls is the "first of many" the press maker plans to expand its aftermarket and service business.

The company builds full PLC integration and control systems upgrades for printing and packaging presses, and provides service support and maintenance and press audits.

Goss chief operating officer Goss Stan Blakney says it plans to be the premier printing solutions and support partner to its customers: "Goss is focused on growing our aftermarket and service business for our installed base.

"This is the first of many expansions of those capabilities we see in the near term."

The asset acquisition will unify aftermarket services and enhance Goss's drive and controls upgrade capabilities. It will also strengthen Goss's ability to provide service and parts, as a GAC speciality is obsolete and hard-to-find electrical parts.

GAC operations and product development vice president Dave Soden says the partnership will enhance its capacity to provide "excellent aftermarket parts, services and enhancements".
