A "reimagined" Cebit Australia - headed by former Facebook regional chief executive Stephen Scheeler, aims to be the Asia-Pacific's most significant B2B innovation and technology event.

It will be held next year in Sydney from October 29-31.

Scheeler, who runs his own consultancy firm The Digital CEO, says he wants to create "something our industry will thrive on for years to come.

"The chance to shape this iconic event into something new, something of true value to the individuals and organisations that represent the future of the Australian economy is something that compelled me to get involved."

Eight advisory committees are working on the framework of the 2019 event, with more than 100 cross-industry representatives contributing ideas to the event.

Cebit Australia 2019 will be held for the first time in October at Sydney's International Convention Centre, taking advantage of the warmer spring weather and longer days for the outdoor component of the programme. It will include interactive activations, hackathons, innovation camps, speakers, outdoor displays and after hours networking events.
