Miles 33 wins ad sales slice of Dundee cake

Scottish publisher DC Thomson Media is replacing a print-centric classified system with a new wholly web services-based system to allow all sales staff to sell any kind of ad, print or digital.

The new Miles 33 Gemstone sales suite will include CRM, production tracking, credit management, ad planning, audience analysis and multichannel sales and ad booking.

Headquartered in Dundee, the company publishes daily newspapers, magazines and books and has diversified into new revenue initiatives including events management, digital technology, retail, radio and television. The Gemstone suite will provide a comprehensive tool serving users in Dundee, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness and London.

It replaces a DTI ClassSpeed system and integrates with DCT Media's Doubleclick adserver. It will also help support DCT Media's event services, consolidating multiple channel management systems into a single platform with CRM and Audience Analysis functions.

Joint sponsors Denise West and Andy Williams say the system will improve the accuracy and visibility of sales and financial data, providing more detail on customers in order to manage them more effectively. "As it's fully scalable it will allow us to support growth and integrate future business," they say.
