News media professionals are being urged to provide data for an annual survey on the use of social media.

Researcher Krissy Pole, who is a senior lecturer at the Business School of Canterbury Christ Church University in the UK, says time is running out for responses. "We are collecting data now and the final report with international comparisons will be ready mid-July, so we can continue to gather data for about another five weeks."

Currently Australia is under represented in the survey, which is aimed at journalists and media professionals. As an incentive, there is the chance to win one of ten $100 Amazon gift cards.

For the sixth year running, the university is collaborating with Cision on a study of journalism and social media. The international Social Journalism Study highlights how journalists are using social media, what they think about its impact, and the final report will show how the industry is continuing to change as a consequence.
