Press maker KBA has more to celebrate this Christmas with another Commander CL press order, this time for media group DuMont in Cologne.

One of KBA's oldest customers, the two have a relationship going back 180 years. The new Commander CL is being commissioned next northern autumn at subsidiary MZ Druckereigesellschaft in Halle, and replaces a KBA Express delivered in the early 90s.

It will print the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung, plus advertising supplements, brochures, booklets and other printed matter in Rhine and half-Rhine format.

The press will have a maximum web width of 1400 mm and a cylinder circumference of 1020 mm. Two four-high towers will print up to 45,000 cph with 32 pages in Rhine format or 64 pages tabloid.

Equipment includes a KF 5 jaw folder and two Pastomat reelstands with Patras A reel logistics, an automation package consisting of pagination change, inking unit and cylinder washing units, fan-out, colour measuring and control systems, colour and cut-off register controls and automatic plate changing systems.

Additionally Zip'n'Buy, skip slitter, glued superpanorama (multi view), half cover, spadia and a section stitcher options add special ad formats, and provision has been made for a ribbon stitcher.

Two ErgoTronic consoles will also run maintenance and servicing software and interface existing EAE job preparation, planning and statistics systems.
