manroland's role in the (auld) mug's game

manroland sheetfed is going sailing next year to support a bid to wrest the 'auld mug' from the Kiwis.

The curious alliance sees the German sheetfed press maker - part of Briton Tony Langley's billion-a-year Langley Holdings empire since its 2012 separation from manroland web - backing a UK challenge.

UK yachting hero Ben Ainslie will lead his team aboard Langley Holdings' superyacht Gladiator (pictured) in the TP52 Super Series, with Langley at the helm. The event opens British knight Sir Ben's Land Rover BAR challenge for the 36th America's Cup, which is being defended by Emirates Team New Zealand, reverting to monohulls rather than the more recently-used catamarans.

Ainslie and Britain want to bring the America's Cup "back home" to where the challenge began in 1851.

manroland sheetfed is one of 80 companies worldwide - with annual revenues of about $1 billion and 4500 staff - which belong to Langley, who is the group's chairman and sole shareholder.
