IT infrastructure company Agile will manage US giant Gannett's private digital network core following the acquisition of its operations and data centres and PDNS business.

Agile has completed the purchase which includes Gannett's primary data centre located in Silver Spring, Maryland, its private digital network, and Private Digital Network Services which was its partner in building and maintaining the network. Agile now operates Gannett's private digital network and provides data centre and network services under a long-term master services agreement in a deal which substantially expands its client base, physical assets and technical capabilities.

Agile will also be able to leverage additional networking assets within Gannett, including the fibre ring located in Phoenix, Arizona, and capitalise on a multi-gigabit backbone with points of presence in more than 100 major cities.

Physical assets include a special-purpose building in Silver Spring.
