South East Asia Newspaper Group (SEANG) has announced the venue for its third annual conference and plans for an “ultimate golf challenge”.

The 2010 event is being held from September 20-23 at the Sultan Hotel, a short drive from the main Jakarta airport. Vice chairman Stephan Peters says the production manager of a European newspaper is among confirmed guest speakers, with other presentations coming from Asian newspapers and vendors.

A revamped website (at www.seangnews.com) – presided over by new secretary Herman Verkerk – has helped boost registration of newspapers and venders, and Peters says more people have registered for the 2010 conference than in the previous two years, proving the move to an Indonesian venue to be right.

With the help of vendors, there have also been inquiries from newspapers outside the South East Asian region, which are warmly welcome as well, he says.

The full programme is to be announced shortly.

The social programme includes a golf challenge at the Senayan club on September 20. A shuttle bus from the hotel will be provided, with lunch before the tee-off at 1pm. Play will be followed by a poolside barbecue at dusk at the Sultan Hotel in Jakarta.
