A 'women in news' workshop in Yangon was one of a series in WAN-Ifra's Media Freedom and Democracy programme to be held in Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam with funding from the Norwegian Foreign Ministry.

The PANPA Newspaper of the Year has already attracted entries from South-East and North-East Asia, plus the Pacific region.

Categories include: Newspaper of the Year; News Site of the Year; Technical Excellence for Printing and Production; Marketing; Photography; and the Hegarty Prize awarded to the Young Executive of the Year.

Judges from the Americas, Europe and Asia will join local industry identities to select the best the industry has to offer, with awards presented at a gala dinner in Sydney on September 10.
