A new palletising system at Mediaprint in Vienna is a timely addition ahead of the WAN-Ifra Expo.

The Mediaprint Zeitungs-und-Zeitschriftenverlag plant handles up to 60 000 newspaper bundles a day, with the installation of a Schur Compact Palletiser automating a manual process.

With a small footprint and compact design, the SCP system can be adapted to fit available, and in Vienna technology for feeding empty pallets into the system was reconsidered and adapted to meet local needs.

Ernst Mühlmann says many of the newspapers that leave the printing house include supplements: "This means that bundles can vary a lot and palletising of these bundles is not always easy to handle. but the new solution can meet this challenge," he says.

"Another important argument for automation has been that heavy physical work is eliminated, contributing to a better working environment for the operator."
