Norwegian-based Polaris Trykk is upgrading press controls to include automatic register control and provide for a press extension.

A contract with EAE and QI Press Controls will see QIPC's mRC-3D installed and EAE systems architecture in Harstad updated to allow for a new folder. Polaris Trykk has also signed a five-year service contract with EAE.

Plant manager Åsmund Kildal says the EAE NetPCs, info and print system and control consoles will be upgraded, making operation easier.

The mRC-3D will enable full automation of the cut-off register. Kildal says he expects quality standards will be reached more quickly and maintained levels during production. "More precisely, this means savings of at least 250 copies during the make-ready stage," he says.

The partnership between Polaris Trykk and QIPC/EAE also includes plants in Alesund - the first user of the company's IDS-3D - and Trondheim.
