Doug Edwards has joined inkjet technology group Xaar, succeeding chief executive Ian Dinwoodie.

Dinwoodie's retirement from the Cambridge, UK, company - of which he has been chief executive since 2003 - was announced last March.

Edwards (right) returns to the UK from Kodak, where he was president for digital printing and enterprise and a member of the executive board since 2006. He started his career in the UK in a variety of technical roles with Ilford, ICI, Zeneca and International Paper before moving to the USA 14 years ago with Kodak Polychrome Graphics

Chairman Phil Lawler thanked Dinwoodie for his "significant contribution" to Xaar since joining it in 2001: "His appointment will strengthen the board, providing the experience necessary to lead the company through its next stage of development."
