Newsrooms in Rhode Island and Connecticut have been linked through a single production system capable of auto-pagination in a two-site project for RJ Media Group and Sun Media.

The Meriden Record-Journal and Westerly Sun are live on a multichannel cloud-based Miles 33 GN4 and GNWeb editorial CMS designed to improve collaboration and consolidate web and print content management.

Components include fully-responsive Kentico-based GNWeb, a newsroom budgeting module to help plan resources and publishing content, and Miles' auto-pagination module to automate the page assembly process of standard pages.

The improvement in the preparation and creation of content for all channels, combined with the improved collaboration and task assignments, is already showing in the newsrooms, with pages leaving on time, "or even early" and frequent website updates taking place throughout the day, according to executive vice president and assistant publisher Liz White.

The GN4 system replaces an older Newscycle system and includes an interface to the AdBase advertising system.

RJ Media in Connecticut and Sun Media Group in Rhode Island, are two parts of a 150-year-old, fifth generation family owned business. It publishes the daily Record-Journal, six weekly community newspapers, The Westerly Sun, Mystic River Press, the Express and two websites.
