Goss's Meissner, manroland get top NPES awards

America’s NPES vendors’ group has honoured Goss president and chief executive Jochen Meissner with its Harold Gegenheimer service award. The corporate award went to manroland.

The service award recognises leadership and participation in NPES and print industry activities as well as civic leadership.

 NPES president Ralph Nappi says he embodies all the best qualities of Baldwin chairman emeritus Gegenheimer, “lifelong commitment to technical advancement, unique innovation, sound management and leadership, and tireless work on behalf of the industry”.

Meissner had been “instrumental in establishing Goss as a premier brand in the printing industry, expanding the company’s focus and resources, and extending its technology leadership position through unique innovations within its web press and print finishing product platforms.”

Meissner experience extends through sales, management, engineering, manufacturing, operations and executive positions with leading suppliers over 25 years. He was appointed president and chief executive of Goss International in 2008, having joined the organisation through Heidelberg – which acquired Harris Web – where he had been executive vice president and chief operating officer in 2002.

He has served on the NPES board for seven years and is currently a member of the executive committee. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Aachen in Germany in 1982.

• manroland was awarded the Gegenheimer corporate award for industry service, presenting it to North American managing director Vince Lapinski in recognition of the company's industry leadership through participation in NPES and industry activities, civic leadership, and technical innovation.

manroland was cited for being a top developer of computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) for well over a decade. Recognised for providing leading innovations in printing systems, from commercial through publications to packaging printing, manroland was most recently recognised with an InterTech Award for its APL autoprint (automatic plate loading system).
