Networking and golf play an important part in ASEAN Newspaper Printers' annual conference, but the real business is about print.

This year's conference in Jakarta (September 18-20 at the Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta) takes the theme of "Wow in print" with technical sessions and an update on benchmarking for best practice.

The programme begins with golf and a welcome dinner on September 18, ahead of the main business programme the following day.

New chairman Goh Yew Soong - who succeeded Andy Budiman as ANP chairman last year and is engineering vice president at Singapore Press Holdings - opens the formal event, with a keynote speaker and technical presentations following.

A plant visit to Gramedia (pictured) gives delegates an opportunity to better understand the business and technology which anchors more than 100 bookstores scattered across the archipelago and one of the spearheads of Kompas Gramedia Group.

Thursday's (September 21) morning programme provides more technical updates and the benchmarking session, with a closing dialogue between partners, members and the ANP committee before delegates share a farewell lunch and head homewards.
