Newscycle has named Scott Roessler as president in a reshuffle which sees chief executive Preston McKenzie move to a new role as executive chairman.

The two will work closely on the strategic direction of the business, as well as on key initiatives, the company says.

A former chief executive of Atex Americas when its AdBase business was acquired by Newscycle, he is "uniquely qualified" for the role, it says in a statement. He has most recently been chief operating officer, several transformative initiatives including the transition to Amazon Web Services for hosting, enhancements in professional services and support processes, increased product go-lives and a new client portal.

Roessler (pictured) is a veteran of the news media industry, having joined Atex with Mactive, of which he was a founding member of its US team.

McKenzie says that while his own role in the day-to-day operation of the business will be reduced, "I am glad to be able to continue to work with the leading technology provider to the global media market, and to help our important clients to embrace the future of journalism and media.

"I look forward to supporting Scott and the executive team, and to playing a part in the future success of this important company."

Vista Equity Partners principal and co-head of the Foundation Fund Alan Cline says he has "thoroughly enjoyed" working with McKenzie in recent years and has been impressed by his work ethic, leadership and commitment to clients and employees: "We are looking forward to working even more closely with him as we expand Newscycle's client-focused initiatives."
