After earlier cooperations and the death of its chief executive, UK-based Knowledgeview has been acquired by Hamburg-based ppi Media.

The company's founder, Ali Al-Assam will join ppi as senior vice president for the MENA region, and Roberto Minio will work as a senior technical consultant.

Former chief executive of the then-newly-merged WAN-Ifra, Reiner Mittelbach - who had joined Knowledgeview at the beginning of 2016 - died in May.

ppi Media says it will support existing customers and provide the opportunity of upgrades to its wide range of publishing services.

"We will support the solutions currently in use, while at the same time offering future-oriented services that will ensure media companies remain competitive," says managing director Hauke Berndt. "We are proud to be able to work for KnowledgeView's customers, who are among the leading Arabian media companies, from now on."

KnowledgeView was founded 22 years ago and has developed outstanding publishing technologies that are being used by more than 60 per cent of the most important newspaper productions in the Arab region.

Al-Assam (pictured) says customers and the media industry as a whole "will now benefit from even better services.

"I am proud to be able to continue working for the Arabian publishing industry with my colleagues as part of ppi Media, and to meet the challenges the media landscape is faced with."

ppi Media presented a range of new services at IfraExpo/DCX in Berlin this month, including insights into a new self service advertising portal and solutions for automatic newspaper production.
