Hundreds of guests - 500 on the first day - attended an open day in Shanghai this month to launch Wisprint's new M700S book press.

The recently-staged highly-automated press was the star of the show, with representatives of Beijing Zhongke Printing Co in attendance to formally accept the handover.

The open day at the state-of-the-art Goss Graphic Systems China factory included static displays, product updates, technical updates, two live book press demonstrations and three live packaging press demonstrations.

A spokesman said the 'access all areas' approach was popular with guests, along with the level of information presented and range of product demonstrations on display.

The company builds and sells the Compact newspaper press under the Wisprint brand, recent installations of which have included a nine-unit press at Società Editrice Sud in Messina, Italy. The quick edition-change press has a 620 mm cut-off, a 2:3:3 folder with quarterfold, and QIPC register controls. The company produces a range of titles including Giornale di Sicilia, Gazzetta del Sud, Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport.
