Real is a word beloved of Australia's 'Real Media Collective', so the event which has evolved from the annual catalogue awards has become the Real Media Awards.

This year's event - scheduled for the Melbourne Room of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on August 28 - is now open for entries. Organisers say it is "what awards nights used to be - fun, glamour and glitz - celebrating all things success."

Entrants are encouraged to demonstrate their client's successful brand and retail marketing effectiveness, from catalogues to magazines, point of sale to direct mail and more.

Chief executive Kellie Northwood says more and more entrants each year are talking through the story of their success, the journey their campaigns have taken and the results that have been achieved.

"It is wonderful to see the success of print marketing at work and we look forward to a bigger and better event this year," she says.

This year's awards include 'major awards' categories including brand of the year, media brand of the year and retailer of the year. Media brands (consumer, trade and custom), direct mail and point of sale categories are also being expanded from previous years.

Of course, you'll have to demonstrate real results: "We know how effective print is and if you've achieved something great with your client, then enter the awards, bring your client along and celebrate the work you've achieved together," says Northwood.
