The Times of India was praised for its systematic approach to upgrades at this year’s manroland users’ group meeting in Mumbai, India.

Some 28 representatives from ten countries came together for the event, hosted and organised by Times of India, the country’s India’s largest English language daily newspaper, at its printing site in Airoli.

TOI technical director Sanat Hazra outlines the publisher’s latest innovations including glitter ink, glued LEDs, different folding and gluing possibilities, and vertical and horizontal perforations to enable pullout coupons.

manroland web systems executive vice president Dieter Betzmeier praised the host publisher for its step-by-step implementation of upgrades at numerous printing sites and consequent use for various printed products.

“The host gave an excellent input with his talk completing the event perfectly,” he reports.

Betzmeier himself talked about innovations and possibilities for development at the printing industry from the press manufacturer’s point of view. He talked about new products and features – especially in automation – and explained the benefits and possibilities of upgrade projects.

“Every year, the manroland users’ group conference offers a great and unique chance to get new motivation and ideas from firsthand. Talking to our customers and partners helps us to adapt our product range according to their requirements.”

Besides talks and discussions, visitors enjoyed a cultural programme. Among companies represented were Transcontinental, Sueddeutsche Zeitung, HKM Holding Group, Paarl Media, The Guardian, Infoglobo, Newsprinters, the Toronto Star and Smurfitt Kappa.
