ABB will refit controls on a manroland Colorman press at Süddeutscher Verlag Zeitungsdruck in Munich.
The story at the German print centre is a familiar one: Three towers and a folder on one the manroland presses had various Interbus components which were obsolete and for which spare parts were difficult or impossible to obtain.
ABB will replaces all the Interbus Loop devices with standard components, with existing PLC units replaced by new control systems based on ABBs Advant Controller AC500. Eight Antek infeed drives will be replaced with ACSM1 drives.
Commissioning begin early next year, with no press shutdown required.
