Goss has held a first ‘open week’ at the Durham, USA, packaging centre it opened in April.

The occasion was an opportunity to demonstrate the quick job changes and inline capabilities of the Sunday Vpak system, and follow weeks of closed testing sessions and private demonstrations.

Executives from more than 40 companies, representing a range of packaging facilities across the USA and Canada, saw the ongoing live demonstrations over four days.

The Vpak 500 was shown running both 76-micron OPP film and 8-point SBS paper board, and employing a variety of additional inline capabilities including high-gloss flexo coatings and EB curing.

Director of product management for packaging Peter Walczak says the event was “hugely positive and beneficial”.

“The feedback at the time was fantastic, but comments and enquiries since suggest there could be some interesting developments to come," he says.

In addition to an ongoing schedule of trials and demonstrations, Goss is now planning a series of events at the packaging technology centre focussed on specific educational topics. First will be colour management and ink curing, with input from Goss partners and consumables suppliers.
