Leading Mexican commercial printer Infagon Web is adding a new Goss M-600 press to its wide array of sheetfed and web equipment.

Owner Serafin González says that despite a longstanding relationship with the maker, automation and consistent high-quality were crucial: "More and more, our clients are employing print as a prestige product," he says. "This means that quality needs to be higher than ever, and in lower volumes for a more select, targeted distribution."

The new press will accommodate run-lengths previously only in the sheetfed domain. Due for installation into Infagon's main facility in Mexico City this year, the new M-600 is rated at up to 55,000 impressions per hour and will have a 965mm web width and 578mm cut-off.

It will be configured with a JF55 folder and Ecocool dryer and a range of automation technology.

A pioneer in its field, Infagon was the first printer in Mexico to invest in gapless printing technology, installing a four-unit Goss Sunday 2000 press in 2007. This was followed up with a five-unit Goss Sunday 2000 press in 2009. The company was founded in 2002 and today employs 350 people, producing the full range of commercial products, including catalogues, magazines, directories, calendars, books and brochures.
