HP has recruited Mike Boyle from Canon to head its Asia-Pacific and Japan graphic services business.

The former senior general manager of Canon Professional Print Australia succeeds Gido van Praag, who moves up to vice president of GSB Europe, Middle East and Africa after five years in the role.

Van Praag says Boyle is an excellent choice for HP and for the market. "His experience, knowledge and drive fit perfectly with HP and the requirements of the dynamic market in the region," he says.

EMEA is HP's biggest region and the move positions the company for a push on packaging, where it has partnered KBA to deliver a wide-web system for corrugated liner.
