A Universal at Amedia is the sixth Goss press model on which contractor DCOS has been involved in control updates.

The project in Lilleström is part of a plan to expand and future-proof the press, which originally consisted of six four-high printing towers and one folder. It has been extended with two printing towers and a folder from a plant in Stokke, Norway which was facing closure.

The Lilleström press had EAE controls and that in Stokke Honeywell controls. Amedia chose to invest in a new control system with DCOS Sweden moving and reinstalling the new equipment and carrying out the complete retrofit of control systems.

The project started in December last year and completed in June this year with the press being in full production throughout the project. In addition to the new printing towers and the folder, two used Amal AR60 reelstands were installed alongside existing Amal AR75 reelstands.

Headquartered in Lilleström, Amedia produces virtually all of its newspapers in its seven wholly-owned and three partially owned print facilities.
