Coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan re-committed to free press access to Papua and promised to review outstanding cases of involving the killing of local journalists.
The visit of the International Partnership Mission comes a year after a first visit to Papua and included a fact-finding visit. The group says access "remains problematic", with obstacles being raised by local military and police.
The mission, which visited Jakarta, Jayapura and Makassar while in the country from November 9-13, is to publish a report of its findings and recommendations by the end of this month.
