Freedom at risk without independent war coverage

Imagine war reporting without a free press.

Paris-based free-press advocacy group Reporters without Borders has launched a campaign to show how superficial coverage would be without independent photo journalism.

It urges viewers to support "those that risk their lives to bring us the truth".

The campaign - including a YouTube video - was created as a tribute to Hungarian photojournalist Robert Capa, who covered the Spanish Civil War, the second Sino-Japanese War, World War II, the 1948 Arab-Israeli War and the first Indochina War.

A Reporters without Borders press freedom index last February showed 17 of 26 countries in the Asia Pacific region ranked lower than 100th.
