Delegates to WAN-Ifra's first-ever World News Media Congress in Hispanic Latin America have the opportunity to learn from the region's boldest and most inspiring executives as well as to soak up its cultural and tourist appeal.

Newly added to the speaker line-up are Wizeline founder and chief executive Bismarck Lepe, Grupo RPS change agent Andiara Petterle, and editors in chief of El Colombiano Martha Ortiz Gómez and La Nación, Carlos Guyot.

The son of Mexican immigrants, Lepe is a Stanford graduate and cofounder of video platform company Ooyala - sold in 2014 for US$400 million - who now leads business intelligence software company Wizeline which uses data to help companies build products. He and his company are pushing strong to transform the Mexican city of Guadalajara into Latin America's Silicon Valley.

Newspapers and digital media vice president at Grupo RBS in Brazil, Petterle is a rising star of the country's media industry, now leading profound changes in the group's overarching strategy. Her broad experience in digital business and fine knowledge of the media industry puts her in a unique position to discuss one of the Congress' most awaited sessions.

Ortiz Gómez is achiving change at the century-old Medellín flagship, and founded an internal innovation laboratory in 2013 where editorial changes, redesigns and projects are developed using design thinking and other creative methods.

At La Nación in Argentina, Carlos Guyot has been at the heart of innovation efforts for several years. He was previously design director and in 2009, the company's first ever innovation director.

Congress organisers are also urging delegates to see some of Colombia's most beautiful destinations during their visit, offering - among other attractions - the Caribbean Sea, whale watching in the Pacific, World Heritage sites, deserts, mountains, coffee plantations and the Amazon rainforest.
