A shining example of a newspaper transitioning from print to digital, Quebec's La Presse+ comes under scrutiny in a three-year review at the World Publishing Expo in Vienna next month.

Chief operating officer Pierre-Elliott Levasseur will update delegates on the Canadian newspaper's project to transplantthe paper's content to tablet.

Colleague Jean-Marc De Jonghe, who is the publisher's vice-president for digital products, has already been announced for Australia's NewsMediaWorks Future Forum in Sydney next month.

World Publishing Expo organisers say the La Presse+ tablet edition has established itself as an essential news and information reference in its market, three years after its launch, and is seen as a leader in the worldwide daily newspaper industry.

During the opening session to the two WAN-Ifra conferences - Digital Media World 2016 and Print World 2016 - accessible to Expo visitors, Levasseur will explain the vision and strategy behind the transformation of the 131-year-old daily to leading-edge digital medium.

Over the last few years, Levasseur has led the company's digital publishing operations and the development and implementation of the tablet digital edition. He is also president of Square Victoria Digital Properties, a leading investor and developer of digital businesses in Canada, and since May last year, he has also overseen Nuglif, a subsidiary dedicated to the ongoing development of the platform technology behind La Presse+ and to its successful integration into clients' technical and operational environments.

From 1995-2006, he worked for Power Corporation of Canada and Power Financial Corporation, where he was treasurer from 2001-2006.

Organisers expect thousands of visitors from more than 900 companies and 82 countries to visit the 100-plus exhibitors over the three-day World Publishing Expo.

The new Digital Media World and Print Media World conferences promise key learnings and promote creative problem solving. Presentation programme and further information is available at the event main website, www.worldpublishingexpo.com
