Newscycle has announced a new version of its Onset digital CMS which includes integrated Slack messaging, content placement options and URL tracking features.

Released in July, Onset is built on Drupal 8 and includes modules, widgets and tools designed specifically for news media organisations.

The 2016-2 version extends communication and collaboration functionality, enabling organised, category-specific group conversations on an open messaging platform, and includes priority publishing options and a URL history and tracking tool.

Director of product strategy Kelli Chmielorz says newsrooms will be able to share story details and assets with reporters more efficiently, and editors prioritise the online placement of articles - allowing breaking news to publish automatically - without having to manipulate layouts.

Features include integration with the
Slack team messaging tool, priority weighting within categories, and URL tracking to provide a history of URL aliases and a redirect setup for shared links.
