Australia's APN Outdoor and oOh!media have agreed to go on competing with each other after the ACCC indicated it was against a merger.

In a joint statement, the companies say they disagree with the ACCC's views: "Both parties maintain that the commercial reality is that out-of-home advertising competes extensively and directly with other media channels and as such a narrow market definition is inappropriate."

APN Outdoor was spun off from APN News & Media which, with interests in radio and outdoor itself, is in the process of changing its name to HT&E (Here There & Everywhere) to reflect its post-newsmedia reality.
