With approval now given for a second phase, QIPC-EAE Americas is replacing control hardware on a ten-tower KBA Comet at Grupo Nación in San José, Costa Rica.

The process involves replacing the PCs on which the EAE Print, section controls and service systems run, as well as five control consoles. The 15 PCs running Windows 10 software include spare units. It follows a first stage completed in 2015 in which PC hardware and software for various EAE systems was upgraded.

Grupo Nación prints the daily La Nación and tabloid La Teja.

QIPC-EAE Americas is also underway with the second stage of an upgrade project at McClatchy's Kansas City Star, where four KBA Commander presses (pictured) have a total of 36 towers. After updating the EAE workflow systems for the presses and replacing PC hardware for the EAE control consoles and EAE systems of one of the presses, the company is now installing new PC hardware for the other three presses.
