The "storytellers of Karnataka", Indian publisher The Printers Mysore has gone live with a new ppi Media Content-X editorial system.
A complete publishing production system now handles production workflow for its daily Deccan Herald and Prajavani, as well as other publications, as part of a project to make them more efficient and future-oriented.
The first stage started at the end of June with production of the papers' inserts, and after a gradual transition, the dailies themselves are now also produced entirely with Content-X. In addition to the Content-X editorial system - developed by ppi Media and Digital Collections - The Printers Mysore use a range of products, including the PlanPag planning suite, AdMan ad production system and CX epaper solution.
The ability of Content-X to process different font systems is important in Karnataka, with the daily Prajavani in the Kannada regional language and the English-language Deccan Herald produced with the system. Content-X allows editors to create print products more efficiently and in a structured way, and forms a basis for the company's future digital strategy. In Europe and elsewhere, features such as the DC-X DAM system are being used to enable journalists to work flexibly with a browser-based story editor and line-by-line preview.
Prajavani is printed at seven different locations and is published in 32 regional editions across Karnataka. Deccan Herald is the biggest English-language Indian newspaper of the state and one of India's top ten English- language newspapers. The Printers Mysore also produces two magazines in Kannada.

Headquartered in Bangalore, Karnataka, The Printers Mysore was founded by K N Guruswamy in 1948, and has printing and distribution centres in Bengaluru, Hubli, Davangere, Hospet, Mysore, Mangalore and Gulbarga.
The group has a combined monthly print readership of nearly four million, with the daily print readership of Deccan Herald and Prajavani at 3,255,000 (IRS 2014). It employs 1050 staff, which includes 400 journalists with bureaus across Karnataka and India.
