QI Press Controls had an early Christmas present from European newspaper publisher ‘Corelio’, in the form of a 20-tower control order worth more than 3.5 million Euros (A$5.7 million). The Belgian customer – which installed QI’s IRS register system on a KBA Commander four years ago – will equip its manroland Colorman and KBA Commander presses with the company’s markless colour control system (IDS), automatic colour and cut-off register system (mRC+ with micro marks), including automatic fan-out and the IQM quality management systeem. A total of 20 4/4 towers are involved. Corelio is Belgium’s biggest newspaper publisher with a daily circulation of almost a half million newspapers, covering titles including ‘De Standaard’, ‘Het Nieuwsblad’, ‘De Gentenaar’ and ‘Jobat en Les Editions de l'Avenir’. An automatic fan-out system being developed by KBA and QI at the time (and sold then as part of the IRS product range) was installed on one of the towers.
