A sports tipping site with more than $2 million to be won is News Corp Australia's latest ploy to boost digital subscriptions.

Readers of News' metro and regional news sites and news.com.au will be able to play free on tips.com.au which has bookmaker BetEasy and News' sports streaming site Kayo is its inaugural commercial partners and Fox Sports as a supporter.

Managing director of sport, wagering and gaming Michael Wilkins says the move harnesses premium sport content to drive audience growth as players unlock expert tips and analysis from News journalists.

"Our experience with KFC Supercoach demonstrates the appetite from sports fans - from the totally obsessed to the more casual - that these properties attract large and engaged audiences."

Launched in 2009, KFC SuperCoach engages 625,000 players across AFL, NRL, BBL and horse racing. Wilkins says each game attracts a larger registered audience than the official sporting bodies' fantasy games, with players averaging eight hours a week with the game.

Tips.com.au is offering a cash prize of $50,000 for the winner of each code's tipping comp - and you can enter both - plus a $1 million prize in each code for the "streak" - picking the winner and margin of a chosen marquee game each week.

In 2016, when it was owned by Crown Resorts and known as 'CrownBet', BetEasy was fined $10,500 plus costs for illegal advertising. News says registered players aged under 18 will not be served the NT-registered bookmaker's advertising.

News owns horse-racing publisher punters.com which bought Racenet in 2018. Fox Corp - also controlled by Rupert Murdoch - is a minor shareholder (4.99 per cent acquired for US$236 million) in Canadian gaming company The Stars Group, which owns BetEasy.
