After the launch of a quarterly Rolling Stone Australia edition, UK icon NME is set for a comeback, after being taken over by new Singapore owners.
BandLab Technologies bought the global rights to the New Musical Express brand in 2019.
BandLab - which is backed by music brands - says the decision to reprise print came after the success of its local website launch in December. Chief executive Meng Ru Kuok says there has been "huge interest from fans, artists and the music industry", with half a million monthly Australian readers visiting NME.com/Australia.
It means Australia will be better served than its original home of the UK, where the print edition in is still on hiatus. Meng says Australia is a big country with "one of the most dynamic music scenes in the world".
The initial print run will be under 10,000, with the first issue to be released this month.
NME was launched in the UK in 1952 as a tabloid newspaper - reaching a peak circulation of more than 300,000 before readers moved to digital - so its new satin-art format will be something of a change of style.
