A new paid-sale weekly is the latest ACM offering to fill the print void created by News Corp Australia's closures.

Lismore Echo editor Sophie Moeller has joined Australian Community Media to edit the new Northern Rivers Review, which launches in northern NSW from October 29.

It will cover an area including Lismore, Ballina, Richmond River and Byron Bay, a particular pleasure to ACM executive chairman Antony Catalano, who says he has spent many years coming to the Byron area: "I couldn't be happier to be launching a new publication in the area I care so much about," he says in a company statement.

Moeller's background includes time at both The Times in London and The Australian, as well as writing for News Corp's Sunday Telegraph and Pacific Magazines.

The new weekly has a $2 cover price or $2 digital subscription.

Northern Rivers commercial director Rod Harris says "the time is right" for the launch of the new local news and lifestyle brand. "The market is proving resilient in so many ways during this period, and the outlook for population growth and economic certainty makes the Northern Rivers Review a credible environment for local and national advertisers to share their messages," he says.
