Scientists are warning that we may be entering a looming age of pandemics, according to WAN-Ifra, which says thought needs to be given now to how to cover future global crises.
To assist with drawing lessons from 2020 and prepare for future crises - whatever the size of your newsroom and extent of your resources - a Science in the Newsroom global summit is planned for late November.
Targeting editors, journalists and newsroom managers, the open online event will be held on November 23-24, on Singapore/Hong Kong time.
Speakers will include Denise Lievesley past principal of Green Templeton College, University of Oxford, UK; Sylvie Briand, director of the Global Infectious Hazard Preparedness department; journalist Shirish Kulkrni; David Walmsley editor-in-chief of the Globe and Mail, Canada; Suzanne Franks, professor of journalism at City, University of London; science writer Roberta Villa; and John Burn-Murdoch, senior data visualisation journalist at the Financial Times, UK.
