Applications close shortly for a WAN-Ifra Future Leaders course which supports newsmedia personnel going back to work after a career pause.

The groundbreaking programme for parents and primary caregivers is aimed at people in the Asia-Pacific region returning to the workplace after a career break or an extended period of leave.

The three-month programme, supported by the Google News Initiative, aims to build future-fit newsroom leaders. Participants will undergo a specially-designed programme to help them "ease back into the workplace with heightened media skills, strengthened soft skills and an enhanced understanding of their own career".

It will include leadership and career development coupled with industry updates to get up to speed on the latest trends and personal career coaching. The programme has a specific focus on building resilience in a time of change so that participants are comfortable in digital work and open to embracing technological changes.

Only 20 places are available for APAC news professionals, who need to have a working command of spoken and written English. The programme comes with a childcare/eldercare stipend for successful applicants who are active caregivers.

Applications must be received by Tuesday, March 30, 2359h SIN/HK.
