A new report from Local Media Innovation Insights aims to help local media ‘win with zero and first-party data’.

LMII reports focus on promising trends/opportunities from local media companies of all kinds, including newspapers, digital news sites, TV/radio, with subscriptions open to all local media outlets.

Authored by local media leader and innovator Todd Handy, the report presents a practical playbook for local media companies.

Handy clarifies the differences between zero, first, second and third-party data in plain language and goes on to show why zero and first-party data are strategically critical for local media companies.

He also outlines concrete tactics to collect more and better data, recommends a lightweight data infrastructure and governance model, and describes how to monetise these data assets with new and enhanced products for advertisers and consumers.

The report also provides visual frameworks which can be adapted for presentations and training, and used as an executive briefing for senior leaders and a playbook starter for audience, product and revenue teams.

The report is available for sale; more details from Local Media Association.
