You’ve probably missed the opportunity to join WAN-Ifra’s Sydney study tour, only 15 places for which have been offered.

But give it a try: The link is here.

The closed-door executive study tour – September 7-11 – comes not only at a critical time for the industry, but as Australia is in the midst of political turmoil as existing parties vie for prominence and new ones emerge.

Participants will visit not only News Corp Australia and former Fairfax Media chief executive Chris Janz’ Capital Brief, but also platform-first newcomer The Daily Aus and activist group Amplify (below) – which among other things – advocates for more prefab homes in the housing mix. The Daily Aus (bottom)  was founded in 2017 by Sam Koslowski and Zara Seidler, and now has 400,000 newsletter subscribers and 650,000 Instagram followers.

Also on the list are national broadcaster ABC Australia, and Nine Entertainment, which is both commercial broadcaster and publisher of the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, and the Australian Financial Review still in print, at least in some markets. And local hero Canva, which has a story of innovation, product and technology culture to share.
