Pioneering Viennese print site Herold Druck is among the first users of manroland Goss's MainPad service & maintenance tablets.

Along with Mayer & Söhne Druck-und-Mediengruppe in the Bavarian town of Aichach, they are now using the mobile system to manage press operationsand reduce downtime.

With newly-developed software, maintenance personnel are supported directly at the press when press maintenance, repairs, and problem solving must be dealt with promptly. MainPad bundles necessary information on maintenance and diagnostics, with an "alarm table" on the central control console available on the interface. Required documentation, repair and maintenance instructions can be called up using QR-Codes affixed to electrical cabinets. Worn or defective components can be directly identified and ordered.

Head of technology at Herold Druck Ulrich Müller says the system enables him to support his pressroom team from the comfort of his home in the event of a malfunction during night production. "Thanks to the access provided, I can immediately have an overview of the current situation on the printing press," he says.

Malfunctions that cannot be rectified in-house can be directly communicated to the TeleSupportCenter supported by images and video.
