KBA sells air purification business to allow growth

KBA unit KBA-MetalPrint has sold its Stuttgart-based CleanAir division, in what is described as a "logical step".

Dürr Systems in Bietigheim-Bissingen took over the division on December 1 under an asset deal.

KBA says thermal exhaust air purification systems manufactured under the CleanAir name are used not only in the company's own metal decorating lines, but also in other areas of the print industry, as well as in ink and paint production, surface treatment plants and the chemical industry. This year, a team of 20 employees generated turnover in the "low two-digit millions" with systems to purify solvent and odour-laden emissions.

Managing director Ralf Gumbel says KBA is represented only in the thermal systems segment: "For long-term success, a broader portfolio, a global presence and a much greater scale of business are imperative," he says. "Against this background, we decided to concentrate our growth resources on our core business with production lines for the printing, coating and drying of tinplate und aluminium sheets."

KBA-MetalPrint will continue to offer its EcoTNV solution with thermal purification integrated directly into the dryers of printing and coating lines. Gumbel says the company is also geared to strengthening its leadership through innovative and further developments.
