Tim Addington has been named to succeed Matthew Green as executive director of Publishers Australia.

Green – a former partner in systems integrator Creative Folks – opted to leave the association after a management restructure which saw Mumbrella parent Focal Attractions appointed to grow events.

Addington is a communications professional with 15 years’ experience in journalism and public relations in the UK and Dubai as well as Australia. He is currently communications director at advertising agency The Works and was associate publisher of B&T. He launched advertising magazine Campaign in Dubai as news editor and then editor, having started his career as a freelance and agency journalist in London.

Publishers Australia chairman Geoff Hird says Addington’s brief is to deliver increased value to members via events, training and an enhanced awards programme and to lobby on behalf of the publishing industry and members. “Combined with our recent move to new premises, this is an exciting time for Publishers Australia and the board of directors looks forward to working with him in the years to come,” he says.

Hird thanked Green for his contribution, stabilising revenue and playing a key role in developing a new management structure.

Addington starts on July 14.
