More News cash to help bushfire areas

News Corp Australia's community ambassador Penny Fowler has announced a new round of grants to aid the recovery of bushfire-affected communities.

Recipients include $150,000 each to Landcare Australia projects in Capricornia Catchments, Queensland, and East Gippsland, Victoria, $48,000 to Currumbin Wildlife Hospital (QLD), $50,000 to Queensland Rural Fire Brigade Association, and $49,500 to Lachlan Fire Station in Tasmania.

Penny Fowler - who is a niece of group chairman Rupert Murdoch - said investing in rural and regional recovery would continue to be a priority.

"We are pleased to continue our support of rural and regional Australia, in particular, bushfire-affected areas in Queensland and Tasmania which have been through one of the toughest years on record.

News says it has donated $2.4 million to various national and local organisations and projects to date.
